Sunshine Blogger Award – Positivity I Am Uncomfortable with, and Recognition I Probably Don't Deserve
It's been a while, Internet kids. I've been working on crafting a query letter to send out to agents, which speaking of things I'm uncomfortable with… I'm uncomfortable with.
So what's with that weird title? Well, I was nominated for something known as "The Sunshine Blogger Award" by my newfound writer friend, Agnes. What is it? I have no idea, so I'm going to blatantly plagiarize Agnes's description: a Sunshine Blogger Award is a recognition bloggers bestow upon one another.
Okay, I guess that was pretty simple.
Despite the very cheery name, I'm pretty honored that Agnes would choose me to nominate. So although I don't really know anyone else to nominate that she hasn't already, I will do my best to complete the questions she has posted for me. Here we go!
1. What is your greatest source of inspiration for writing?
Ali. That's probably a no-brainer, but there it is. Beyond that, music and other, more talented and experienced writers. Actually, any well written and crafted media.
2. What did you have for breakfast this morning (if anything)?
A cocoa rice crispy and a ridiculously sweet iced coffee. Adult decisions!
3. What was the first book you remember reading by yourself?
Likely a Dr. Seuss book.
4. What is your favorite color and why?
Cobalt blue. There's something about the deep, calming shade of Vick's bottle blue that does something interesting to my psyche.
5. Where would you visit in your transporter?
Assuming it's equipped with life-support, the edge of the universe to see what lies beyond.
6. When would you visit in your time machine?
The 1940s, so I can start my detective agency. Maybe clash with some Pinkertons.
7. What is your greatest strength?
My crushing doubt that I can succeed at anything, and self-analysis. Can I take two? How about three? My third would be the ability to analyze other movies/TV shows/videogame/books/comics to pick apart what works, doesn't work, and generally admire the craft of a well built story.
8. Who do you most admire (living or dead) and why?
A obvious choice, see question one. However, to pick something that isn't an easy choice… Geez, there's a lot of different ways I could go with this. I think I'm going to keep it in the family, and go with my mother-in-law Chris. That woman does so much for so many people, and indoors so much shit on a daily basis, it's ridiculous.
9. Okay, MacGyver -save the world. What will you use & how will you do it?
All one needs to save the world is a badass mullet.
10. Which vice? Which virtue?
Sloth. Subtle craftiness. That's a virtue, right?
11. What is your favorite genre to write? To read?
This was a weird one, because the only thing I've written a lot of is nonfiction at this point. However, assuming this is successful, the answer to both will be hard-boiled noir.
That's it for today, folks. Go read Ms. Agnes's blog, I think it's going to turn into something pretty fantastic.
